October Newsletter

Welcome to October!

This month we want to appreciate our member of the month Enrique De Ala! Here is a little bit about him from our interview.

Tell us a little about what you do?

I work as a mechanical estimator at Countywide Mechanical Systems. I specialize in estimating cost associated with mechanical systems and components in construction projects. My primary role is to provide a accurate cost estimates for various mechanical systems, such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and fire protection systems.

Here are some key responsibilities and task of a mechanical estimator:

  • Reviewing plans and specifications:
  • We start by thoroughly reviewing the construction plans and project specifications to understand the scope of work and mechanical systems required.
  • Quantifying Materials and Labor: We determine the quantities of materials, equipment, and labor required for the installation of mechanical systems. This includes estimating the number of pipes, fittings, valves, HVAC units, and other components.

What is the best advice you got when you started your career?

The most valuable advice I received when I started was to thoroughly read all the project-related documents.

If you weren’t in the field, you are in now, what would you be doing?

I might find myself working at a sporting goods retailer, such as Sportman’s Warehouse or Turner’s Outdoorsman.

Thank you, Eric, for being a great Coworking Member!
