According to research, the average worker spends more than 31 hours a month in fruitless meetings. Before you book a meeting, find out if you can accomplish the same goals via a video conferencing meeting, phone or email.

 

Stop Multitasking

There is a common misconception that the ability to carry out multiple activities at a go is a critical skill for increased efficiency, but the opposite is, in fact, the truth. According to psychologists, once you attempt to carry out multiple tasks at once, you instead free time and productivity. Therefore, train yourself to commit to a single task before you move on to the next.

 

Be Proactive

Incoming emails and phone calls should not be signals of how you will spend your day. In fact, all that you are likely to achieve is putting out plenty of fires, and that is just about it. Instead, set a specific time to respond to your emails, but do not let them shape out the rest of your day. Create an attack plan at the beginning of every day, and do all you can to stick to it.
